Discover Cairngorms trails

Your Gateway to the Great Outdoors

Situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Speyside Centre is surrounded by stunning woodlands, rolling hills, and scenic trails that begin right on our doorstep. Whether you’re an experienced hiker, a family with young children, or simply looking for a peaceful stroll, our location makes us the ideal base for exploring one of Scotland’s most beautiful natural landscapes.

Our local walking routes are easily accessible from the centre, with paths suitable for a variety of abilities, from flat, well-maintained trails to more adventurous woodland loops.

Trails for Every Type of Walker

There’s no need to travel far to enjoy nature. The moment you step out of our car park, you’re just minutes away from a network of marked trails winding through forests, meadows, and riverside clearings. Along the way, you might spot red squirrels, roe deer, or even a golden eagle overhead.

The surrounding forest is not just a place to walk, it’s a place to learn, reflect, and reconnect. Look out for interpretive signs along the trails that highlight native species, conservation efforts, and local folklore.

Our trails are perfect for families, offering safe paths and lots of opportunities for children to explore. Many visitors turn their short stroll into a half-day adventure by pairing their walk with a meal in our café and a browse through the centre.

Wildlife Viewing Area

Wildlife enthusiasts will love the rich biodiversity in and around the Centre. Our team frequently receives local wildlife sightings, and we’ve created a dedicated Wildlife Viewing Area on-site where visitors can relax with a tea or coffee while soaking up the natural surroundings.
Species commonly seen include:

  • Red squirrels (especially near feeders)
  • Roe deer in early morning and dusk
  • Pine martens (occasionally)
  • A variety of woodland birds, including great spotted woodpeckers, robins, siskins, and crossbills

We encourage guests to bring binoculars, take photos, and share their sightings with us.
